Brian Eno Announces New Collection Music For Installations For May 2018 Release

Brian Eno has announced a real treat for his fans. The acclaimed artist has revealed that he will be releasing a massive collection called Music For Installations this summer. The expansive box collection will include, for the first time on vinyl, “new, rare, and previously unreleased tracks.”

Music For Installations features works that have been exhibited all over the globe – from the Venice Biennale and the Marble Palace in St. Petersburg to Beijing’s Ritan Park and the sails of the Sydney Opera House. All the material presented in this brand new collection is recorded by Eno for use in his installations and will cover the period from 1986 up until the present and beyond.

Some of the works that are included in the box set are 77 Million Paintings, which premiered in Tokyo at La Foret Museum in 2006; I Dormienti/Kit Stories, which debuted at The Roundhouse in London circa 1999; and Lightness: Music for the Marble Palace, which was presented for the first time at the The State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg in 1977.

Brian designed the collection with long-time collaborator Nick Robertson. Eno’s fans have the opportunity to purchase the collection in a few ways. Music For Installations will be available in three formats: a 6-disk standard CD version, the 6-disk CD super deluxe version, and a 9xLP vinyl super deluxe version. The 9xLP edition includes a 64-page booklet with rare and unseen exhibition photograph as well as a new essay written by Eno.

Also in the works in the release of Eno’s collaboration with My Bloody Valentine‘s Kevin Shields. The collaborative 12″ is slated to release on Record Store Day (April 21) and will feature the previously shared track “Only Once Away My Son.”

Music For Installations is set to release Math 4th via UMC.
