Neil Young Announces Paradox Official Soundtrack for March 2018 Release

Neil Young has provided the details to his next album called Paradox set to be released on March 23. The album is the soundtrack to a new film in which the 72 year old is also starring in, and will come digitally and as a two-record set. Additionally, it will be available on compact disc on April 20.

Young was assisted on the album by his band Promise of the Real, an orchestra on the MGM soundstage, drummer Jim Keltner and bassist Paul Bushnell. It will feature versions or previously recorded songs by Young as well as covers by artists such as Willie Nelson, Jimmy Reed, Lead Belly and The Turtles. The film was directed by Young’s girlfriend, actress Daryl Hannah, and he will play the role of “Man in the Black Hat.”

Nelson also makes an appearance in the film along with his sons Lukas and Micah Nelson both of whom serve as members of Promise of the Real. The film will be screened at SXSW on Friday March 15 and along with the soundtrack’s release, the film will premiere via Netflix on March 23. A small scale theatre release of the film will be scheduled soon after the Netflix premiere.

Paradox is Daryl Hannah’s feature directorial debut and it has been described as a “far-fetched, whimsical western tale of music and love. Somewhere in the future past, The “Man in the Black Hat” hides out between heists at an old stagecoach stop with Jail Time, the Particle Kid, and an odd band of outlaws.”

The soundtrack will be a follow up to Young and Promise of the Real’s 2017 album The Visitor. They will be performing June 23rd at Arroyo Seco Weekend in Pasadena, California and Canadian music festival Festival d’Été de Québec on July 6th.
