Neko Case Announces New Album Hell-On for June 2018 Release

Singer-songwriter Neko Case, best known for being a member of The New Pornographers, Maow, Corn Sisters, Cub as well as her own solo career, has recently announced the release of new music. Her newest album, in fact, titled Hell-On is set to be released in June 2018 and fans in New Zealand will be able to pre order it on itunes.

Hell-On represents Neko Case’s latest release since 2013 The Worse Things Get, the Harder I Fight, the Harder I Fight, the More I Love You, which was nominated for a grammy for the category Best Alternative Music that year. Meanwhile, she released a collaborative LP with colleagues Laura Veirs and k.d. Lang titled case/lang/veirs in 2016.

Veirs and k.d. Lang also appear on Case’s new project among a rich list of special guests such as Beth Ditto, Mark Lanegan, , AC Newman, Eric Bachmann, Kelly Hogan, Doug Gillard, Joey Burns and many more. Case, who produced the record, recruited Bjorn Yttling (of Peter Bjorn & John) to co-produce 6 tracks with her in Stockholm, Sweden where she mixed the 12 track album with Lasse Martin.

The singer has teased some of her new music through a few-seconds long video in which a tarantula is sitting on her face while the music supposedly from her first single and title track Hell-On plays, as Spin reported. She also announced a new batch of dates for a summer tour alongside Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Ray Lamontagne, starting March 27th at Sasquatch! Music Festival, in George, WA.

The tracklist includes titles such as Bad Luck, Gumball Blue and My Uncle’s Navy and the artwork depicts the singer springing fire from her shoulder, as to emphasize the overarching concept of hell that drives the album.

The singer will also make an appearance at South by Southwest as part of Twin Peaks’ Events alongside M.Ward, Real Estate and Tame Impala’s Cameron Avery, says Rolling Stone.

I studied political science in Turin, Italy while simultaneously working for three different online newspapers, where I was in charge of producing content, editing and assisting the editor-in-chief. After spending a year in London at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, I completed a Certificate in Songwriting and decided to move to New York City where I enrolled to the New School, from which I graduated in December 2017, majoring in Liberal Arts.
