Lorde Covers Frank Ocean’s “Solo” and Plays Rare Song “Precious Metal”

According to Pitchfork, Lorde Kicked off her North American tour in Milwaukee. On Thursday night, she performed 20 songs, including songs from her latest album Melodrama and its predecessor Pure Heroine. What made this night so special for many fans, was Lorde’s cover performance of Frank Ocean’s “Solo” from his 2016 album Blonde. As Lorde had previously explained in an interview with Spinoff, Melodrama, Lorde’s latest album has in part been inspired by Frank Ocean’s album Blonde. She explained: “In this sort of post-Blonde landscape, we can all sort of do whatever we want in terms of instrumentation, it’s exciting. I can use guitars and I can get a big gnarly Flume beat and throw it under water.”

During the show, she also surprised the crowed by performing “Precious Metal”, an unreleased song, from her album Melodrama. The song was originally written as part of her album Melodrama, but due to unknown reasons, it was never included in her album.

Lorde is currently touring the North America with Run the Jewels and Tove Styrke, making her way from Wisconsin in March to Nashville in April.
