Dean Ween Says Kurt Vile Collaboration Is “Probably Gonna Turn Into A Record”

Just recently all-around music icon Dean Ween posted on social media photo that showed him in the studio with indie icon Kurt Vile. Since then, there hasn’t been much noise about the collaboration and what may come of it, until today. In an interview with Culture Creature, Ween talks about the collaboration and where it may end up going. The good news for fans of Ween, Vile and just incredible collaborations in general, is that the two created four songs together and that the work’s “probably gonna turn into a record. I shouldn’t be saying that, cuz I have no actual proof of that. He and I haven’t really talked about it, but I know that we can’t wait to do it again (laughter).”

Collaborative albums aren’t out of the question for Kurt Vile, who recently released an excellent team-up album with Australian singer-songwriter Courtney Barnett. The two musicians, who are both been labeled as having a “slacker” sound with hazy instrumentals and a sing/speak sort of cadence, plus an incredible ability to relate stories in compelling and memorable turns of verse. The collaboration, called Lotta Sea Lice, was huge success with a tour and even a place on our best albums of 2017 list.
