Synth-pop Scottish band Chvrches announced the release of an upcoming new record titled Love Is Dead, set to drop in May 2018. According to NME, singer Lauren Mayberry described the new project, which will be released via Virgin/Glassnote, as a “coming to terms with the fact that there are great things in the world and there are awful things in the world and that you can’t get one without the other.”

Mayberry also added that the band was looking for a more honest and aggressive sound, banning any kind half-measures. NME has also revealed that the group has been working

with Adele’s producer Greg Kurstin for the new LP. However, earlier in 2017, it has been reported that the trio from Glasgow was collaborating with Eurythmics’ Dave Stewart, who posted a picture of himself with the band in the studio on his Facebook page.

The band, however, expressed their admiration for Kurstin’s work, which Mayberry finds to be always having a bit of “saltiness” in them, while still remaining bib pop records. Kurstin has worked with artists of the caliber of Adele, Sia, Foo FIghters and Liam Gallagher.

The tracklist of the new LP includes tunes like Graffiti, Get Out, Deliverance and My Enemy, which sees the illustrious collaboration of The National’s Matt Berninger.

The members of Chvrches are big fans of his and his band, that’s no secret. However, they didn’t think that an proper studio collaboration could have happened as fast as it did, according to NME.

The two acts had already teamed up for a fundraising called 7 Inches For Planned Parenthood as well as playing a few festivals together. Mayberry has also joined The National on stage to perform I Need My Girl. Berninger later returned the favor by making a cameo appearance on Chvrches first single from the new album, Get Out.

Chvrches will be also performing at Citadel Festival alongside Leon Bridges and many other acts in July 2018 as well as at Parklife festival in Manchester alongside The XX, Liam Gallagher, N.E.R.D. and many more.
