Peter Murphy Announces Dates For Postponed Residency at The Chapel in San Francisco

Peter Murphy has announced the make-up dates for the residency he was forced to postpone earlier this year. The new dates, which will of course still happen at The Chapel in San Francisco, are now between June 26 and July 15, 2018.

The postponement is really no one party’s fault it appears, simply a bureaucratic issue. “A simple matter of the administrative visa process for many foreign applications between Turkey and USA,” explained Murphy about the problem. He also praised the management of The Chapel for working to keep the residency alive. Murphy also apologized to fans that had bought tickets or even booked trips to San Francisco around his rescheduled performances in the winter.

According to Fiona McEntee, Managing Attorney for McEntee Law Group and MusicVisas.com, that after requesting an expedited adjudication of his O-1 visa (and paying a substantial fee to do so), Murphy’s request was subjected to a random processing check. Despite the efforts of Murphy and his camp, up to even a congressional intervention, nothing could be done to make an exception for the musician.

Fans that have tickets and wish to keep them for the summer residency do not need to take any action; refunds will be offered to those who cannot attend. Those who bought tickets for a rescheduled show that want to change to a different date are advised to buy a new ticket and then refund the old one.

The one good thing that came from this ordeal involving the former Bauhaus singer, at least for fans of extraordinarily unique music, is the DJ QBert/Mike Patton collaboration that came a few weeks ago. The two teamed up for a pair of shows that raised money for The Chapel, who needed to find gigs to fill the substantial 16-day Peter Murphy residency.
