Ghost Announce Spring 2018 Rats! On The Road Tour Dates

Swedish heavy metal band Ghost has recently announced a spring tour in 2018. The eclectic group fronted by Tobias Forge, also known as Papa Emeritus, will be on the road in May and June for the Rats! Tour, which does not include any openers.

The band will reach major cities such as New York City (May 15th at Capitol Theater), Philadelphia (May 19th at WWWR BBQ) and Riverside, CA, which will be the starting date on May 5th at RMA, reveals Brooklyn Vegan.

The tour will be supporting a new album which is set to be release in the near future, according to Loudwire. The band hasn’t, in fact, dropped new music since their 2015 record Meliora.

In late 2017, frontman Papa Emeritus, to this regard, said that the band has “been in the studio for about a month now. And by the end of the year, if everything goes according to plan — knock, knock — we’re gonna have a new album, not out, but we’re gonna have a new [album] recorded and mixed and delivered”.

Band leader Forge has also been the recipient of a string of lawsuits from his bandmates, who accused him to over profit from the group’s artistic activities such as touring and releases. As Loudwire reported, the other members of the group claimed that an agreement was issued between them and Forge at the beginning of their collaboration, something that the singer utterly denies.

While the legal matter kept swinging, however, Ghost has released their first mini-documentary titled The Devil’s Hands. What’s interesting and peculiar about it though, is the fact that the actual members of the band are barely in the movie, which mainly depicts what goes on behind the scenes of a Ghost show, such as live production and backline tech, says Loudwire.

In the interest of a possible new record, it is worth mentioning that on February 23rd the band has changed their profile picture on Facebook to a blank black square, perhaps hinting at the imminent release of new material.
