John Fogerty and ZZ Top Announce Summer 2018 Blues and Bayous Tour Dates

Rock legends John Fogerty, from Creedence Clearwater Revival, and ZZ Top will join forces and come together for a spring tour, which is set to start on May 25th. The two acts will cross the United States, from coast to coast, reaching major cities such as Atlanta, GA Cincinnati, OH and Atlantic City, NJ.

Fogerty has expressed his excitement about the tour by saying that ZZ Top is one of his favorite bands and guitarist Billy F. Gibbons is an iconic player, thus making teaming up with the legendary band, in fact, one less thing in his bucket list.

Fogerty, on the other hand, represents, as co-founder of CCR, one of the most influential musicians in the world. His work has awarded him with prestigious titles such as one of the 100 Greatest Guitarists, 100 Greatest Songwriters, and 100 Greatest Singers by Rolling Stone. an induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Songwriters Hall of Fame, and Baseball Hall of Fame.

The guitarist, as well as author of a New York Times-bestseller book titled Fortunate Son: My Life, My Music, is the father of many of his band’s hits such as Green River, Bad Moon Rising and Proud Mary. In regards to the latter, Fogerty has lately revealed how the recently-released film that carries the same title as the famous tune, “has nothing to do with me” and that he was not consulted before using his sing that way, according to Rolling Stone.

ZZ Top, on the other hand, is on the cusp of celebrating their 50th anniversary. However, their 2017 was characterized but many efforts to raise funds and awareness for the victims of hurricane Harvey, which hardly hit their Houston, TX, the band’s hometown.

According to their website, they have decided to donate all proceeds of iTunes sales of “La Grange,”  one their most famous hits, from their current album, Live! Greatest Hits From Around The World, in support of the Salvation Army to help area residents rebuild their lives.

The band has partnered up with Smart Financial Center and contributed $100.000 to local agencies who were working towards alleviating the tragedy. ZZ Top’s performance at Smart Financial Center, later in September 2017, marked the first public performance to be held at the venue after hurricane Harvey.

Luca Di Fabio: I'm a musician, writer and art aficionado. After spending my youth and teenage years studying music, I developed a fervent interest in writing. I studied political science in Turin, Italy while simultaneously working for three different online newspapers, where I was in charge of producing content, editing and assisting the editor-in-chief. After spending a year in London at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance, I completed a Certificate in Songwriting and decided to move to New York City where I enrolled to the New School, from which I graduated in December 2017, majoring in Liberal Arts.
