SXSW has announced one of its final lists of showcasing artists for the 2018 music festival. Like previous announcements, this one is filled with up-and-coming artists most music fans won’t recognize at first glance. Sprinkled in are a handful of bands that have made a major mark on the music industry, adding a touch of star power to the festivities.
Notable artists in this round of announcements include Southern California electronic band Classix, LA indie rockers Cold War Kids, alternative pop group In The Valley Below, Pacific Northwest anthem-experts Japandroids, alternative R&B sensation Khalid and classic soul sensations Lee Fields & The Expressions. Others include Lucy Dacus and Speedy Ortiz, who both have an album coming out soon, Los Angeles punks No Parents and bluegrass band Old Crow Medicine Show. Pussy Riot will be performing at the festival as a part of their first live performance United States tour. Superchunk will be appearing, touring in support of their great new album What A Time To Be Alive. Electro-pop band Sylvan Esso and SoCal surf punks Wavves will also be appearing.
