Hollywood Bowl Announces 2018 Summer Series with Beck, Flying Lotus, Bon Iver & More

With a seating capacity of almost 18,000, there is a reason the Hollywood Bowl has become one of the most celebrated and well-recognized natural amphitheaters in the world. The venue has long been the summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic since its opening in 1922, and also hosts some of the finest artists all across the world, from all genres of music.

Now the Bowl has just announced the roster for its 2018 Summer Series, its 97th since its first opening. True to its spirit of diversity, a variety of artists from genres ranging from classical to pop, jazz, rock, and world music, will be performing at the amphitheater between June and September 2018.

Amongst others, there are quite a few particularly notable shows to look forward to this summer. American singer-songwriter Beck will be returning to perform a multitude of songs from his widely celebrated catalogue, including the most recent record, Colors.

John Williams will also be visiting to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first time he performed at the Bowl, guiding the audience through many of his greatest moments in movie music, with an orchestra playing songs from “Star Wars: A New Hope,” “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back,” “Jaws,” “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” and “The Pink Panther.”

The National Public Radio Station KCRW’s World Festival features will be held at the Hollywood Bowl as well, some of the shows including Flying Lotus; Little Dragon; Father John Misty; Gillian Welch; the 17th annual “Reggae Night” with Beres Hammond, Alpha Blondy and Protoje; Bon Iver and TU Dance; Grizzly Bear; TV on the Radio; Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith; and more to be announced.

Finally, over two presumably amazing nights, Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins and Christopher Cross will perform sets of their own songs with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra conducted by Thomas Wilkins.
