AEG Plans To Continue FYF Fest in 2018 After Buying Out 50 Percent of Founder Sean Carlson’s Shares

Spin reports that AEG and the concert promoter Goldenvoice have decided to continue the 2018 Los Angeles’ FYF Festival, after buying out 50 Percent of the FYF Founder Sean Carlson’s Shares.

Last year AEG, and Goldenvoice, terminated their partnership with Sean Carlson after accusations of sexual misconduct, and harassment against him broke out. The FYF festival is now being booked by Jennifer Yacoubian, who has worked with Goldenvoice since 2009. Dave Peterson, FYF co-producer, will also continue working on the festival.

Sean Carlson, who founded the Fuck Yeah Fest in 2004 when he was only 18 years old, was accused by several women of sexual misconducts such as kissing and groping without consent and exposing himself. Shortly before the accusations were made public, Goldenvoice and its parent company AEG decided to end their partnership with Carlson. Four women spoke out about the allegations against Carlson in an interview with Spin. Natasha Rya, who is a former freelance music photographer, told Spin: “This guy kept coming up to me and trying to take my bra off and I had to keep batting him away,” She explained: I didn’t know who he was. I was just hoping he’d leave me alone.” After an hour, Carlson approached Ryan again, while she was waiting for bathroom, “He just started grabbing me and trying to kiss me and was trying to pull me into the bathroom to make out with me,” she added. “I kept saying, ‘Stop, get off me,’ and he kept saying, ‘But you’re just too cute to not make out with.’ He finally backed off after I pushed him off again.”

Carlson, later responded to the accusations in a letter to Spin. He acknowledged that the accusations were true, but he also added that while the women’s statements were true, several incidents contained “serious misstatements and omissions.”
