Lord Huron will follow their 2015 critically acclaimed album Strange Tails this spring with their third full-length album Vide Noir. The record will be their first release on Whispering Pines/Republic Records and will be out on April 20. The bands previous two releases were on IAMSOUND records.
In preparation for the new release, fans can now listen to the tracks “Ancient Names (Part 1)” and “Ancient Names (Part II).”The band has also released a trailer teasing the new album at lordhuron.com.
Lord Huron was originally formed by Michigan singer-songwriter Ben Schneider as a solo project in 2010 but has since found success as a full group offering. The band will follow the success of Strange Tails with an open-minded and at times intense collection of thought provoking folk.
Schneider along with Mark Barry (percussion), Miguel Briseno (bass) and Tom Renaud (guitar) spent two years working on Vide Noir in Los Angeles. Schneider used the sundry backdrop of Los Angeles to draw inspiration for the new album and its message. He crafted the ideas for each song while scanning and expanding upon the various peaks and valleys that the city has to offer.
Vide Noir was mixed by Dave Fridmann who has worked with respected artists such as The Flaming Lips and MGMT and was engineered by Sonny DiPerri who has most notably worked with Grammy winners Portugal the Man.
Like much of the bands previous work has done in the past, the album will be complimented by a vast array of images to expand upon the theme and message of each song. Below is the track listing for the album.
The band will tour extensively starting in April going from Schneider’s home state of Michigan to the west coast and east coast. Below are the tour dates in support of the release of Vide Noir. The band was also recently added to this years’ diverse Firefly Festival lineup.
