Singing Parakeets Explore The Depths Of Your Mind In New U.S. Girls Video for “Rosebud”

U.S. Girls have released yet another stunning music video in advance of their latest record In a Poem Unlimited which is set to come out on February 16th. This follows the release of provocative music videos for the two previously released singles, “Velvet 4 Sale” and “Pearly Gates.” Directed by Alex Kingsmill, “Rosebud” features a flurry of high-speed camera shots for Parakeets in various stages of flight. The slow-motion footage is synced up in perfect time with the song, giving the birds a human-like personality and giving the video an engaging visual style. Each shot lines up with a line or two from the song Eventually the video shifts to following a man, the owner of the parakeets, as he traverses a snowy landscape before releasing one of the birds into the wild.

Musically speaking, “Rosebud” continues Meg Remy’s slick experimental pop sound, utilizing plenty of exciting production techniques to layer a bevy of interesting sounds over her angelic singing. The song, co-written by Remy and Rich Morel, fits in nicely with the rest of the previously released singles and is yet another demonstration of the unique sound Remy has forged for this new album.

U.S. Girls will be taking an 8-piece band on a tour of North America this spring, crisscrossing the western half of the continent along with a stop in Austin in time for SXSW, before finishing up with a run of shows on the East Coast.
