Childish Gambino Slays Grammy Performance of “Terrified”

Donald Glover is celebrating his acclaimed album Awaken, My Love at the 60th annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, and though being nominated multiple times for his single “Redbone,” he took the stage at Madison Square Garden in New York City, to perform another song off the album.

Glover, who goes by his stage name Childish Gambino, performed the track “Terrified” in an all-white ensemble alongside JD McCrary. The 9-year-old actor/singer/dancer is one of three guests on the album. The young actor is also set to play Young Simba in the upcoming live-action Lion King Film (Glover will be playing older Simba). Not only is Glover is a talented writer, director, producer, actor, rapper, and songwriter, his performance at the Grammys proved that he is a talented singer as well.

The Sunday’s award show performance marks the first for Glover since his set at the Governor’s Ball. Awaken, My Love!, is Glover’s third studio album released back in December of 2016. The album received two Grammy Award nominations, including Album of the Year and features the breakout track “RedBone,” which garnered three nominations for Record of the Year, Best R&B Song, and Best Traditional R&B performance.
