Have you been wondering what the legendary Police officer Sting has been up to? Do you remember that thought you had about how Sting and Shaggy would make great music together? Well it looks like they read your mind. Via a joint press release, Sting and Shaggy have announced their collaborative project called Sting & Shaggy in which they visit music of the various Caribbean islands. Titled “Don’t Make Me Wait” and released through Interscope/A&M Records the first single of the album will have a digital release on January 25 of this year. Following the release of the single, their new album titled 44/876 will be released on April 20 which will exhibit their love for Jamaican inspired music. No tour, however, has been announced in support of this new album.
The duo were originally introduced to each other through Sting’s manager and Shaggy’s former A&R executive Martin Kierszenbaum. After Sting listened to a new in-the-works Shaggy track, they mutually decided to go into the studio together. 44/876 is the brainchild of this meeting and shows a perfect blend between the styles of Shaggy, Sting and Jamaican music.
