Gillian Welch announced her Spring, April 2018 “An Evening With” Tour featuring an appearance with David Rawlings. From Greensboro to Wilmington to Charleston & Athens, Welch and Rawlings plan to perform two fulls sets of music with no opener. Alongside this, Gillian Welch plans to co-headline a Red Rocks Amphitheatre show with Punch Brothers, September 2018.
Now the fun doesn’t stop here for fans as Welch plans to perform several exclusive events in different cities that include Nashville, Los Angeles and Atlanta. According to sources, as mentioned previously Rawlings plans to perform two full sets of music each night, including song off his new album, as the “Evening With” tour is in support of his album Poor David’s Almanack. Although in support of his new album Rawlings plans to also perform his favorites from his first two albums, A Friend of A Friend and Nashville Obsolete.
The Grammy nominated 2011 album by Welch, The Harrow & The Havest, is also out not and through her own Acony Records. It has been said that her album is packed with an “Old Style” tip- on gated jacket and includes full color cover art that was done by John Dyer Baizley.
In total Gillian Welch and David Rawlings have eight studio albums. Recently they released their latest collaboration together which can be found on David Rawlings’ album. With a mixture of acoustic and electric music it had an overall timeless American vernacular.
From Welch’s previous 2017 tour featuring Rawlings, fans described their performance of Welch’s 2011 Grammy nominated album, The Harrow & The Harvest, as nothing short of amazing.
There success as artists is evident with their awards, and Grammy nominations but also from their highest achievement which is the American Lifetime Achievement Award for song writing in 2015 as well as their Berklee American Masters Award in 2016. Fans can only but wait to see what 2018 holds for the amazing two, and with their tour on the horizons, were sure that this will be just as successful as their previous songs and tours.
UPDATE (6/13): Gillian Welch has announced an extension of her mostly-completed “An Evening With Gillian Welch” tour. The dates extend the tour into October and include a show at the famed Hollywood Bowl opening for Father John Misty.
