Dallas band MOTORCADE have a sound that perfectly blends the best of the ’80s while offering up intriguing and impressively original songwriting. One song that perfectly showcases that sound is the band’s new single “Deliver,” which we are premiering today. The jangling guitars, prominent bass lines, haunting harmonizing and heavy synth use point to influences like The Jesus and Mary Chain, Depeche Mode and Echo and the Bunnymen.
MOTORCADE are vocalist Andrew Huffstetler, guitarist, vocalist and keyboardist James Henderson, bassist and vocalist John Dufilho and drummer Jeff Ryan. Henderson, who wrote “Deliver” explained the formation of this ear-grabbing new song. “I wrote the chorus for this first, months before I came back to it to finish it off,” he said. “Just me messing with synths and wanting something that towered. The first line came to me and pretty much set the tone for the rest of it.”
While the band members’ names may not ring out as indie icons, they have recorded with or been in touring bands with artists like St. Vincent, Apples in Stereo and more. The band’s musicianship and songwriting chops are evident throughout “Deliver,” as it is a strikingly original composition despite heavy influences from three decades ago.
