Releasing their most radical concept yet, Between the Buried and Me have just announce, what sources call, an ambitious project, their two-part album, Automata.
Although fans were able to see the lights of Parallax I and Parallax II , this was only a studio project and an EP, whereas Automata is a duo, full-lengthened album that the band plans to tackle for the first time.
Announcing the arrival of Automata I, as March 9th, Automata II is scheduled just a few months later, for a summer 2018 released, by Sumerian Records, who according to sources, have recently signed the band after two full-lengths with Metal Blade.
As their first venturing taking on the opportunity to do this duo album, one question that many fans come into is, why now? Luckily, Tommy Rogers provides fans with a more in-depth idea of the bands vision;
“Every single week music comes and goes. We can get music instantly and with this luxury, the listener has hard time sitting down with albums and exploring their every twist and turn,” because of this, we have decided to release our new album in two parts. Our music is dense and our albums are very long, so we want to give people two separate moments to dive in this year and explore new music that we’ve put our entire being into. We hope you enjoy the creation as much as we’ve enjoyed the process.”
With many bands and albums sounding very similar, Rogers describes Automata I as the sound that will put the music industry back on its toes. Similarly, guitarist Paul Waggoner expresses his ambition to always do something different and the bands consistent drive to push itself forward while still having their own “basic sound” .
Therefore, their ambition to stay different and always produce innovative new music has been seen throughout their previous albums. For example, the album, Colors . Colors is separated in 8 tracks and gives the impression of one continuous song, with transitions between each part. While the album was recorded was recorded months of April and May of 2007, the sounds that it produced remains timeless, and received great reception. Not surprisingly, from this it sold around 12,600 copies in its first week and reached 57 on the Billboard 200 which was the first time the band reached the top 100 .
Nonetheless, although the duo album may be a new venture for the band, the progressive metal group has always been known to push forward and thrive new territory . An example of this is seen with the band’s latest album, Coma Ecliptic, which allowed them to showcase their latest evolution, paring back grinding metal passages and Tommy Giles Rogers’s guttural growling in favor of ever-progressive themes.
Between the Buried and Me, overall, has seen endless amounts of success through their pursuit to be true to themselves and sticking to their edge. From the release of their DVD from their tour for their album Coma Ecliptic to their previous performance at the Blastfest Festival with the Devin Townsend Project, their innovation and passion is what keeps fans and the music industry intrigued, in-tuned and engaged.
With the epic opportunity to tour with The Dear Hunter and Leprous, fans have even more to anticipate. Tickets are timetabled to go on sale Friday,January 19th at 10AM, while there is also a limited VIP pre-sale for the whole tour underway now.
