Super Rare Nirvana Demos Shared By Friend Of Cobain, Featuring Bleached Demos With Dale Crover On Drums

John Purkey, a close personal friend of the late Kurt Cobain, has shared some extremely rare early demos of Nirvana, as reported by Far Out Magazine. Purkey claims that the demo tapes were given to him by Cobain himself, and they contain some never before released recordings. The first one features the band playing with Melvins drummer Dale Crover on the drums at Seattle’s Reciprocal Studios in 1988. Another demo is from a later period of the group right before the recording of the band’s debut record Bleach.

Purkey has kept the tapes hidden away in a secure metal box since he first received them from Cobain but now he has released them to the public via YouTube. As one of the most iconic bands of the grunge era, Nirvana has been idolized by music fans a generation over, with many clamouring for any and all unreleased material. Between this release of demos and a rare live acoustic recording that was released late last year, fans have had plenty of previously unreleased material to dig into.

You can listen to all of the demos in the player below.
