Hard rock band the Sword is back for their sixth studio album, and first since 2016’s Low Country. Set for a March 23rd release date, their upcoming album Used Future is, according to the official press release, “a giant leap forward for this band.” Dominated by “heavy grooves, soaring hooks, and epic instrumental interludes,” the record promises “a modern version of a classic ’70s rock album,” “a full experience, from start to finish, in the tradition of masterpieces by The Who, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd.”
Produced by Tucker Martin (My Morning Jacket, The Decemberists) in Portland, OR, and mastered by Brian Lucey (The Black Keys), Used Future will be released on March 23rd via Razor & Tie Records, with a follow-up to their Greetings From… (Live) tour soon to follow. “Used Future sees The Sword utilizing synths more than ever before,” states the press release, “adding a whole new layer of cinematic color to its sound.” Kyle Shutt of the Sword recently released his Pink Floyd cover album Doom Side of the Moon this past August, marking the 50th anniversary of The Dark Side of the Moon‘s release.
