Dean Ween Group Change New Album Title to rock2 and Announce Spring 2018 Tour Dates

Late last November, Ween co-founding guitarist Dean Ween announced a new album. The Dean Ween Group album is scheduled to release on March 9, and while a series of dates that support the album have been revealed, so has a new album name.
When the forthcoming LP was originally detailed, the title was given as Deaner Rock 2 . Nonetheless recent announcements states the album will now be called rock2. Deaner’s band, which usually includes the other members of Ween besides Aaron “Gene Ween” Freeman, as well as additional collaborators, will kick off the tour at the Hi Fi Music Hall in Indianapolis on March 21.

Dean Ween – aka The Deaner – recorded the album at his dedicated studio facility in Lambertville, NJ, across the river from his native New Hope, PA. In explaining the body of his work ,Deaner describes the genesis of the album to be different from his first ‘solo album’ since dedicating his life to recording, as he states:
“I moved into an apartment with my girlfriend (who is now my wife; Hi baby!) She would get up at 5:30 am to go to work teaching and I would record all day while she was gone. When she came home I would stop. When she went to sleep I’d go over to Aaron’s place at Brookridge Farms and record all night with him, or Guy Heller, or Billy Fowler.”

While using his time a lot more effectively to produce game changing music, after 30 years Ween found himself committed to having ‘the best equipment money can buy.’ With his success Ween has been able to afford better tools for his trade, and nothing is stopping him from making even better music than what the fans previously heard. In addition, it has been time and dedication that has also played an enormous role in the success of this next album.

According to sources, the album has been described to be a snapshot of the fall of 2016. Ween expresses how proud he is of this album from being able to take what the group did onstage and put it on a record. Although 2017 was a strange time to be a musician, in the midst of the struggle, Ween claims that live music was what became their main outlet for making a living, never assuming that in this stage of his career he would be able to put this much time into being on the road as well as the studio. Yet the only difference now for Ween is the amount of time he put in to making sure his music is better for his fans. Taking a peek into the next couple of months of the groove with this album, Rock2, according to sources, has a little bit of everything for everyone. And although there are many more albums like this one sitting in Ween’s studio, this is a glimpse of a couple months of writing and demo-ing, and about 2 weeks of tracking with his band.

With exciting news of the new tour dates, The Dean Ween group is setting off to take over 2018 and give the fans something exciting, energetic and exclusive to their brand.
