Black Moth Super Rainbow Tease New Music in 2018

Electronic-psych collective Black Moth Super Rainbow are kicking off the new year with a tease, hinting that “BMSR is come 2018” on their social media profiles and releasing a 50 second snippet of new music on Youtube. The clip begins with a simple acoustic guitar figure before transitioning into the classic vocodor-enhanced sound that made the band so beloved.

While the band’s leader Tobacco has been very active over the last few years, it’s been a while since we heard anything truly “new” from the blissfully creepy experimental band from Pennsylvania. They did release an EP in 2016, titled Seefu Lilac, but that was just a collective of song fragments from a never-finished LP. Their last true full length LP came in the form of the crowd-funded Cobra Juicy, which was released in 2012. The band also released a song in 2016 called “Bad Fucking Times,” part of a split 7″ with Freescha.

In November 27 of 2017, the band mysteriously tweeted “158 days.” 158 days from November 27, 2018 is May 3, 2018.
