Ever wanted to visit Slovakia? Now, you have the perfect reason. The Slovakian music festival named Pohoda has now released its 2018.
Pohoda is one of the most eclectic music festival in the world in one of the most interesting places in the world. The festival was born in 1997 and took place in the Slovakian Summer months. Around 2,000 people attended the festival, but somehow only 140 tickets were sold. However, as 2000 hit the turn of the new millenia, the festival grew in popularity with 20,000 people attending each day. In 2006, Pohoda finally began gaining more mainstream, yet still very indie, bands. 2006 featured the likes of indie rockers Pixies as well as British rapper Dizzee Rascal and gypsy-punkers Gogol Bordello.
When the 2009 festival came, some new traditions for the festival were decided upon. Saturday afternoons were now given to the classical side of music, featuring two ensembles as well as choruses that performed selections of Dvorak, Brahms, and Strauss. Later that evening, though, artists such as Travis and Lamb had to back out performing as the Pohoda O2 arena stage abysmally collapsed from rain, killing 2 and injuring dozens more.
Pohoda now takes place in the Slovakian Trencin Airport with a limit of 30,000 festival-goer limit.
This year’s festival includes St. Vincent, Danny Brown, Aurora, Little Dragon, Ziggy Marley and many more. The festival also features 166 concerts throughout the weekend of the festival with people flocking in from over 34 countries.
St. Vincent recently released her newest studio album titled MASSEDUCTION and was produced by Jack Antonoff. For her newest album, St. Vincent has received an insane amount of praise for her art-pop tracks and bad-ass-itude and has earned her spots on late night television and festivals.
