Jack Johnson Uses Old School Video Footage in New Video for “Big Sur”

If you ever wondered what the perfect song to play during your next road trip, look no further. Jack Johnson’s latest single will fit perfectly playing while you take your car for a drive down the coast with the windows rolled down.

Jack Johnson is one of those musicians that has stayed true to his art. His unique style of music has captured the hearts of many, always putting smiles on people’s faces whenever his songs begin to play. His latest album, All The Light Above It Too makes listeners feel like they are on vacation even in the mundane moments of life.

Today, Johnson revealed the new time-lapse video he created for “Big Sur,” the 6th track off the album and it is nothing more than breathtaking. He takes us through Highway 1 in California to explore the wonder that is Big Sur.

The video begins with black and white home video of the west coast diving in and out of the Pacific ocean. As the video switches to color and the lyrics start, we get behind the wheel. It matches perfectly as the first line is “Behind the wheel against the road next to you / The central coast.”

“Big Sur” is like a drive one always imagines going on. The kind where it is okay to get lost. In between takes of the drive itself, Johnson intercuts beautiful visual shots of California that only someone who is is from California will truly understand.

According to Johnson, the song and video are about “driving away from all these things we can’t avoid,” he says. “Taking off with your best friends to a place where you can get into those endless conversations that only ever stop because you have to go to sleep.”

Maybe after watching the music video, fans will take their keys, Jack Johnson’s music and take a drive. See where the road will take you.
