Ass-kicking Nashville quartet Bully had followed up their fantastic debut Feels Like with an LP called Losing, their first for new label home Sub Pop. Though great overall, the album’s high point is undoubtedly the track “Running,” for which the band has just released a new music video for.
Bully conjure the VHS era with their retro, Nineties-styled video for “Running.” Directed by Alan Del Rio Ortiz, the grainy clip features the the indie-punk outfit viciously stabbing a teddy bear, cruising around on skateboards and performing on a suburban lawn decorated with a pink flamingo. The press release describes it as “Without being too on the nose, the imagery explores how we run away from our feelings and how the media portrays millennials and youth.”
Earlier in August, singer-guitarist-producer Alicia Bognanno spoke to Uproxx about the song’s painful inspirations, back when the single was first released. “‘Running’ is about shamelessly keeping yourself distracted or making up excuses to avoid processing certain emotions,” she said.
The band launched a North American tour in early November, shortly after the album release; their next date is December 13th in Atlanta, followed by a trio of shows in their hometown, Nashville. After a break, the trek picks back up in February and continues with North American and U.K. shows through the end of May.
