In Bloom Music Festival Announces 2018 Lineup Featuring Beck, Queens of the Stone Age and Wolf Alice

While the year may just be wrapping up, and many of us may still be feeling the cold and the inclement weather that goes along with the winter season, the summer festival season is only a few months away, meaning that many festivals are beginning to announce their lineups. The new In Bloom Music Festival has just unveiled an impressive set of over fifty bands who will descend on Houston’s Elanor Tinsley Park March 24th and 25th. Spread over four stages, the festival has secured some big-name acts to headline such as Beck, Queens of the Stone Age, Incubus and Martin Garrix, plus plenty of other reliable artists ranging from indie rock to electronic to hip-hop. In Bloom Music Festival is a rebranding of the popular Free Press Summer Festival, which also featured a diverse array of acts during its seven-year run in Houston. While the original festival was more at the midpoint of the summer, In Bloom will now serve as the perfect way for music fans to kick off the festival season.

Queens of the Stone Age have roared back into activity this year with the release of their excellent Villains album but have courted massive amounts of controversy in recent days as frontman Josh Homme kicked a photographer in the face during the band’s set at the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas, drawing the ire from the entire music community as it appeared that the kick was intentional. Homme has since apologized, but many still have bad taste in their mouths from the whole incident, with the BBC going as far as suspending episodes of the children’s program Bedtime Stories, a show where Homme had recently guested on.

Beck is hot off the release of his latest album, the pop-influenced Colors and has once again asserted himself as one of the best live performers out there. He is currently in the midst of touring and he has signed on to play a bunch of the bigger festivals around the country this spring and summer.

Incubus returned after a long hiatus earlier this year, putting out a new record in the form of 8, and after doing a lot of touring in the past couple of years, they seemed primed for more strong festival performances in 2018.

Explosions in the Sky have been critical darlings for their entire career, gaining a reputation as one of the most transcendent live acts in recent memory, and are fans no doubt excited that the band is playing show in their home state. The group hasn’t been up to that much after recently finishing up a lengthy tour in support of their latest release, The Wilderness, but fans can expect another epic set of post-rock mastery from the group.

Wolf Alice are currently riding a wave of critical and commercial success from their recently released sophomore album Visions of a Life and will bring their energetic stage show to the festival.

Martin Garrix will inject some slick electronic beats and a visually dazzling light/laser show to the proceedings, as the DJ/producer is tearing up the charts and venues.
