Surviving Nirvana Members Reunite at Foo Fighters Show and Perform “Big Me”

Fans were treated to a reunion of the surviving members of Nirvana the other night at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Oregon as bassist Krist Novoselic joined Dave Grohl and the rest of the Foo Fighters to perform an early Foo Fighters song, “Big Me,” as reported by Rolling Stone. Novoselic and Grohl (along with Foo Fighter’s guitarist Pat Smear), are the surviving members of legendary grunge act Nirvana. While Smear did not play on any Nirvana albums, he became a touring member of the band in 1993, during their final run of tour dates for the In Utero album before frontman Kurt Cobain tragically took his own life, permanently ending the group. The three musicians have reunited on special occasions recently, such as Nirvana’s induction into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame and as part of Dave Grohl’s Sound City Players series of concerts.

The Foo Fighters have been known to bring guests up on stage to perform with them, particularly during this current tour in support of their newest album Concrete & Gold. After a highly successful run of tour dates this year in support of the album, including staging a massive rock festival in Southern California in the form of CalJam which featured Queens of the Stone Age, Japandroids, Babes in Toyland, Wolf Alice, and Bob Mould among others.

An old acoustic recording of a set Nirvana did in 1991 in Scotland was recently released to the public. The set was to raise money for a Scottish children’s hospital and featured Grohl and Cobain as a duo, with Grohl playing acoustic bass. The short set included some deep cuts and covers and has finally seen the light of day in a partial release.
