The Eagles @ United Center (3/14)

Almost everyone, regardless of the generation, recognizes the lyrics “Welcome to the Hotel California”. This familiar hit strikes a chord with many, and will have many more singing along next March when The Eagles stop by Chicago. The renowned group has announced a set of 12 shows stretching from Orlando to Minneapolis, to even Canada. The tour will kick-off in March, when the band headlines the massive United Center arena.

With much success spread across their discography that includes 5 number one singles, 14 Top 40 hits, and multiple #1 albums, The Eagles were one of the most successful bands of the 1970s. Ironically, most of the members from the famous Hotel California-singing band came from outside the Golden State. It was formed by musicians that had migrated to Los Angeles from other parts of the country. With many members coming and going over the many years, the lineup that will be seen on their North American Tour will consist of members Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy B. Schmit, Deacon Frey, and Vince Gill.

The Eagles have always experimented when it came to the sound of their music. The base of their sound started as a crossover between rock and roll, country, and folk. This initial sound was inspired by their influences of rhythm and blues and other genres. This combination has created many different labels that were put upon the band, in order to describe their unique sound. The most interesting of these labels being what was called “California rock”. While they are most well known for their smash hit “Hotel California”, they have much more to offer than that. Over the years they developed an almost hard rock or arena rock sound, bringing them to where they are today. Overall, the distinct and free-spirited sound of The Eagles has influenced and inspired bands and artists for decades.

A headlining show, featuring a band with such rich history and extraordinary music would be a blunder to pass-up. Tickets for this special evening with The Eagles will go on sale to the general public on Saturday Dec. 2nd at 10 AM. Do not miss your chance to see one of the greatest bands of all time!
