The Body Releases New EP A Home On Earth

Sludge-metal extraordinaires The Body are at it again, releasing a new EP just in time for the major holidays. Released November 20th, The Body’s new album titled A Home On Earth contains nine brilliant, destructive, and beautiful metal experiences that will leave you staring at the universe. Each song contains the crunchy, full-bodied music that The Body have become known for, however, this time, they have decided to make no song longer than the three minute mark, a very teleologist move on their part. When you see the cover art, pictured below, you may be misled to think that this EP focuses on the more merry, christmas side of things as the cover is laden in sharp greens and reds as well as featuring a dove in the center. The music, though, does not venture into that realm and, instead, feeds us the sludge-metal of The Body that its fans have come to know, love, and crave. Check out a track-list of the EP A Home On Earth below. Check out our review of their album No One Deserves Happiness.

Before the release of their EP, The Body also released another music project, this time, though, a joint effort with the grindcore group Full of Hell from Providence, Maryland. Properly titled Ascending a Mountain of Heavy Light, the EP powerhouse contains 8 songs that evoke the alien inside us all. Unlike A Home On Earth, Ascending a Mountain of Heavy Light cover art features what appears to be a hieroglyphic rendition of Ridley Scott’s Alien creature. When listening to the music, you could almost hear it as score for the many Alien and Predator films, containing the gore and suspense in each note. Full of Hell is a grindcore metal band that formed in Maryland of 2009. Currently, Full of Hell is signed to two separate labels A389 Recordings and Profound Lore Recordings. Through both labels, the band has released 3 studio albums alongside their collaboration with The Body. Current lineup is Dylan Walker, Spencer Hazard, Dave Bland, and Sam DiGristine.

Forming in 1999 The Body joined forces in Rhode Island, coordinated by drummer Lee Buford with band member Chip King after they moved to Manhattan for a four year gig with the Blue Man Group. By 2004, The Body was able to release their first full-length record All the Waters of the Earth Turn to Blood in which they collaborated with the Assembly of Light Choir. The album received worldwide praise from the likes of Mxdwn, Pitchfork, and Sputnikmusic. Check out our review of Trumpeting Ecstasy here.
