Cult of Luna and Julie Christmas Announces New Live Album Mariner for April 2018 Release

Spring of last year, Swedish heavy metal act Cult of Luna and American post-metal vocalist Julie Christmas (formerly the frontwoman of Made Out of Babies and Battle of Mice), to much acclaim, released fantastic collaborative record titled Mariner. At the time of release, everyone, including Christmas herself, “never thought Mariner was going to be played live.”

But starting last November, the band began touring behind the record with Christmas across Europe. There were yet no sign of an American tour, but earlier this year in February, the two acts announced that they will be performing a short but sweet North American run of dates performing the prog/post-metal album in August, from Las Vegas to New York.

The short tour, in both Europe and North America, was actually filmed, and a condensed documentary version about both the making of the collaborative record as well as the touring behind it has just been released.

In full Billy Mays style, but wait, there’s more! An extended version of the documentary will be arriving alongside an upcoming live album for Mariner that was captured during a performance they played together in De Kreun, Belgium in November of 2016. That live set is apparently headed for an April 2018 release with more details to come.

Check out the album details below.
