As reported by Billboard, lawyers of the victims of the tragic mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival have filed a new set of lawsuits against MGM Resorts International, the corporate owner of the festival and the Mandalay Bay resort and Live Nation Entertainment on Monday, claiming negligence. Lawyers Chad Pinkerton and Mo Aziz filled the lawsuits in Los Angeles as the jury would be less influenced by ties to the casino industry as they would be if the case were held in Las Vegas as the company is a big political donor in the state and its largest employer.

The new lawsuits include 450 individuals claiming injuries in one of the deadliest mass shootings in recent history. Additional documents submitted also indicate that the victims will also seek compensation from shooter Stephen Paddock’s estate. The lawyers claim that the hotel is responsible for damages and negligence as they did not allegedly follow the proper hotel weapon possession guidelines.

Over the course of 2 days, Paddock was able to amass an arsenal of assault weapons and ammunition in his Mandalay Bay hotel suite before opening fire on concertgoers at the country music festival across from the resort. According to police, Paddock fired a steady barrage of gunfire from his 32nd-floor room into the crowd of 22,000 across the street. There is still no motive for the shooting.
