Critically acclaimed indie rock/electronic group The Big Pink have streamed their latest song, “How Far We’ve Come” ahead of its physical release on the alternative Record Store Day event Blue Monday. The song features contributions from Ioanna Gika of IO Echo on lead vocals and Nick Zinner of Yeah Yeah Yeahs on guitar. The song is a blend of Gika’s ethereal vocals along with a pulsing bed of synths and slamming drums. Zinner adds in a furious wall of guitar, ripping through sections of the song with his identifiable roar. The Big Pink frontman Robbie Furze initially wrote the track with IO Echo, and it provides a glimpse as to the band’s sound for their upcoming 3rd full-length album, which will feature “How Far We’ve Come.”
The song will be released digitally and on limited edition x-ray vinyl that will be limited to 100 copies via Blank City Records on Monday, November 27th as part of the alternative event Blue Monday.
Blue Monday was created in response to the flood of vinyl on Record Store Day Black Friday from major labels, causing independent labels to be unable to press their LP releases, leading to lengthy delays. Blue Monday is meant to mitigate some of these issues by allowing for smaller labels to have their special day for releases.
