Black Eyed Peas Release Augmented Reality App Featuring the Voices of Jamie Foxx, Stan Lee, Common, Ice T and More to Accompany Marvel Graphic Novel

Black Friday always marks the release of some incredible new products. This year, The Black Eyed Peas are releasing something groundbreaking as well. No, its not a new album. The band has been working on an augmented reality app for their acclaimed graphic novel, “Masters of the Sun: Zombie Chronicles.” The graphic novel was released by Marvel comics in August. It follows a futuristic B-Boy who is surrounded by LA gang members and zombies. In addition to its sci-fi thriller elements, the story traces the importance of hip-hop within the African American community. The genre has served as a channel through which members of the community could find their voice, when society rendered them voiceless.

Now, the band is bringing fans a state of the art AR app to accompany the story. The app combines the world of literature with that of film and music to create a whole new way of experiencing the story. The story features voice acting from some notable figures in the Hollywood and Hip-Hop world, along with sound effects and a score from the combined effort of BEP member will.i.am and Academy Award winning composer Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight Trilogy, The Lion King, Dunkirk etc.). The story will feature voice acting from: Jamie Foxx, Rakim, Queen Latifah, Common, Michael Rapaport, Rosario Dawson, Ice T, Snoop Dogg, Redman, Charlamagne The God, Mary J. Blige, Flavor Flav, Raekwon, KRS One, Jaden Smith, Slick Rick, John DiMaggio and Jason Isaacs. In addition to the characters these celebrities will bring to life, the whole story will be narrated by iconic comic icon, Stan Lee.

Thanks to the mixed reality company Trigger Global, the app will provide animated text and graphics for each page. By holding their phone app ($1.99 on both IOS and Android) over the pages, viewers can view roughly 90 minutes of content. Fans can also look forward to a virtual reality component to the project soon under the guidance of the virtual reality company, Oculus.
