DVSN @ House of Blues (2/16)

While many may remember them from their supporting tours with Drake, such as the Summer Sixteen Tour in 2016 or the Boy Meets World Tour in 2017, the mysterious R&B twosome known as DVSN have recently announced their 2018 world tour to support their newest album Morning After. With shows spanning from Canada, the United States, and even Europe, they will soon be swinging by the House of Blues in Chicago for a show in February.

DVSN (pronounced division) is a quickly rising alternative-R&B duo from Toronto and Ontario, Canada. The singer-producer combo is comprised of singer/songwriter Daniel Daley, and producer Paul Jefferies also known as Ninteen85. Both are signed to Drake’s imprint “OVO Sound”, and prefer to keep a low profile.

Consequently, little is known about the pair except for what we hear and see through craft. DVSN has already released two albums, that were immediately well-received. In 2016 DVSN debuted their first album Sept. 5th, which eventually peaked at #17 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop albums chart. After a long hiatus from the music scene, other than the brilliant collaboration on Drake’s “Faithful”, they released their highly anticipated sophomore album Morning After.

The blend of Daley’s often falsetto vocals, and Ninteen85’s masterfully designed instrumentals is something special. The two create a cohesive sound of signature modern R&B with pounding kicks, and a small taste of traditional R&B. Daley’s voice seamlessly floats over Nintenn85’s dreamy melodies and thick 808s. Overall, they have a very similar sound to other associated acts such as The Weeknd or PARTYNEXTDOOR, but still are unique enough to standout on their own.

The all-ages DVSN show at the House of Blues next February will surely be memorable. Tickets have recently gone on sale. Purchase while you can because the popular act has already been selling-out venues. Do not miss the rare opportunity to see this very talented group live in Chicago!
