Screaming Females Release Dramatic Ballad “Deeply”

Screaming Females, the three-piece New Jersey punk band have revealed their seventh studio album All At Once is set to be released for fans on February 23rd of 2019 via Don Giovanni Records. Before the album’s release, the band has shared the ballad “Deeply” today alongside a music video.

The video shared today isn’t your typical music video but a simple still shot of a DIY art project laid out by the band’s front-woman. Unlike most music videos, this one is considered a lyric based.  The lyric video features front-woman Marissa Paternoster and her band painting the song’s gloomy lyrics on a blank wall before covering each line with fresh paint afterward and doing the sequence all over again. The blank canvas wall is said to be the all-ages DIY venue The Black Sheep Cafe in Springfield, ILL.

Paternoster shares, “Deeply was originally demoed entirely by Mike. We tried to emulate the style he had in the original demo, but it wasn’t really working, I so I took some very dramatic liberties with the feel of the song and the slow, dirgey incarnation is what made the album cut.

The song is vocally driven and tugs at the heartstring with its broody lyrics. The chorus, “I fall so deeply” repeats itself as a steady drumbeat pounds away in the background. It is a simple ballad which works alongside this simple concept of a music video.

All At Once is the band’s first album since 2015 and will be available in various formats including Digital, CD, Double-LP vinyl with a Limited Edition 7” and a Deluxe Limited Edition LPx3 with the 7” and an exclusive bonus LP of album demos. Pre-order of the album can be purchased here
