Mike Patton Will Join Dillinger Escape Plan on Final Run of Shows to Perform Irony Is A Dead Scene

Formed in 1997, The Dillinger Escape Plan (TDEP) have been around for a whopping 20 years, but, alas, their time has ended according to the online blog Brooklyn Vegan.

In August 2017, TDEP announced their plan to break up and hold a last hurrah of shows in New York. Yet, as recent as today, TDEP have announced that they will have a special third performance added to their last leg of shows also located in NY. So, if you happen to be in New York City at the end of December then you are in luck. All three shows will be held at New York’s world famous Terminal 5, but you will need to get tickets quickly. Two of their shows, 12/28 and 12/29 featuring Code Orange and Daughters, are already sold out, but TDEP has announced today that they will hold one more very special show on 12/27 with an incredibly unique guest.

Unlike the other two shows, though, the 12/27 concert will feature the grindcore/punk powerhouse God Mother, a Swedish hardcore rock band signed onto Party Smasher Inc, Ben Weinman’s (TDEP’s guitarist) personal label. As for the main event, there are more surprises in store. Unlike the shows following, The Dillinger Escape Plan will be playing their Irony is a Dead Scene album in full, but not alone. Joining them on stage for this special performance is none other than the vocal-slaying singer Mike Patton, of Faith No More and Mr. Bungle, who worked alongside them in the creation and recording of this album.

Irony is a Dead Scene was released as an EP in 2002 during a time when TDEP was gaining and losing bandmates left and right and contains an extremely unique atmosphere that has become synonymous with this record, so, if there is one show you do not want to miss then this is the one. Not only will you hear an exclusive performance of Irony is a Dead Scene in its entirety, but you will also get to experience the sheer brilliance of God Mother and the mind-melting vocals of Michael Patton. Tickets are still available here. This show is open to all ages.

Although Mike Patton will be busy with TDEP, he has also been busy with his own project Dead Cross. Check out his band here.
