Holly Miranda is Joined by Kyp Malone for New Song “Exquisite” and Announces New Album Mutual Horse for February 2018 Release

Holly Miranda has released her newest song today, a bright number that is appropriately titled “Exquisite.” Along with the announcement of a new song is the revealing that Miranda will also release a new album next year, set to be titled Mutual Horse. It will be released by Dangerbird Records in February. Miranda calls Mutual Horse her most collaborative effort yet, stating that it is the first time that she has shared so much of the creative process, the “meat and bones” of the album making process with others.

Guest appearing on “Exquisite” is Kyp Malone, who is best known for his work with TV On The Radio (though he does have a cool noise project called Ice Balloons too), but also well known for the fact that he has appeared on every one of Miranda’s solo records. The two come together to create a song that is melodic, dynamic and altogether unforgettable.

Led by a simple organ line and twinkling guitars, Miranda introduces the song with her pleasantly lilting vocals. Malone’s unmistakable vocals take the song to a new dimension, bringing in a bit of indie rock sensability to the simple alternative folk tune. Eventually some brass comes into the mix, elevating the song to the next level. It all concludes with a simple fade-out, begging the listener to hit “repeat.” She describes the process of creating the song, stating that her and Malone “decided to write a song together, partly about our longtime friendship and conversations about taking inventory and responsibility for your mistakes and shortcomings.”
