Time between new music is never an easy task for fans. It is hard waiting patiently for a favorite band to release new material, to share a piece of themselves so that fans can have something to hold themselves together. Four years is a long time to wait and for fans of heavy metal, four years is what it took to wait for new music from heavy metal favorites Skeletonwitch.
The band is back for their first full length album in over four years and is set to see the light of day in the spring of 2018 on Prosthetic. Their last album was back in 2013 when they recorded Serpents Unleashed but have recently returned to making music last year when they released their EP titled The Apothic Gloom. The result was considered one of the band’s most pwerful incanation yet. The EP, which included new vocalist Adam Clemens from Wolvhammer, was named the best EP of 2016 by Decibel Magazine.
With the new album has teamed up with record producer, Kurt Ballou who has worked with Chelsea Wolfe, High On Fire, Kvelertak as well as the guitarist of Converge in his famous GodCity Studio. Scott Hedrick, Skeletonwitch’s guitarist expressed that, “It feels great to be back in GodCity Studio! Those in the know are aware that working with Kurt Ballou ensures incredible sonics. We’re very comfortable working with Kurt which has allowed us to stretch out into some new territory. We’re excited for people to hear the new stuff.” The record was written over the course of the year between Ohio and New York.
Skeletonwitch came together in 2003 in Athens, Ohio and includes band members Scott Hedrick, Nate Garnette, Evan Linger, Dustin Boltjes and Adam Clemans. A extreme metal band, their music career has seen the band release five epic albums of pure heavy metal and three of those five have charted on the U.S. Billboard. The band has also seen multiple band members come and go making the band ever changing. Fans have experienced high-energy live shows where Skeletonwitch have exploded with legends such as Ozzy Osbourne, Danzig, Ghost, Amon Amarth, Abbath and Cannibal Corpse.
So far, the band will have a few summer shows across the seas but hopefully with the new record coming, fans can expect more to be added. Come back for more updated information on the new album and future show dates.
