Mae Guitarist Zach Gehring’s Heavier Project Demons Releases New Song “Nobody Loves You The Way You Are”

Demons, a heavy metal project started by Zach Gehring, longtime guitarist of Mae, has just premiered a new track from their upcoming debut full-length record Embrace Wolf. The track, “Nobody Loves You The Way You Are,” is another example of the hard, driving rock that Gehring is gearing his new band towards.

“This song is about chronic shortcomings despite honest intentions,” said Gehring to Loudwire. “It takes a critical stance against this rhetoric of the ‘unconditional love’ and variations on the theme. So, the line in the chorus ‘All goals are sliding markers’ is there to reflect this idea that we never really reach a point of certainty, or level of comfort because there are always destabilizing forces at work – internal or external.”

Demons was first shown to the world back in 2015, when Gehring released the band’s debut EP Great Dismal. Since, he’s added guitarist/accompanying vocalist Chris Mathews to the lineup of Gehring, bassist Jonathan Anderson, and drummer Drew Orton.

Demons has also released the track “Always Your Own” as another single to the upcoming LP. According to Gehring, the song is lyrically about cowardice, or what he calls “self-critical black holes, self-imposed limitations, and the rationalizations of those limitations that can disguise the root of the problem.”

Embrace Wolf will be coming December 1st, via Spartan Records. In the meantime, listen to “Nobody Loves You The Way You Are” below.
