Bob Dylan Releases Tom Petty Cover of “Learning To Fly”

American music icon Bob Dylan performed a heart warming ode to his late friend and musical legend Tom Petty last night during a concert of his in Colorado. Within Dylan’s set list was Petty’s 1991 classic “Learning to Fly” from Into The Great Wide Open. Scroll below to check out footage from the performance.

When Tom Petty passed, Bob Dylan was one of many to express his condolences and wrote, “It’s shocking, crushing news,” he said. “I thought the world of Tom. He was great performer, full of the light, a friend, and I’ll never forget him.”

The duo were bandmates in the rock supergroup called Traveling Wilburys back in 1988 with George Harrison, Jeff Lynne, and Roy Orbison.

The singer performed the Firefly Festival earlier this year alongside fellow headliners Muse and The Weeknd. He was recently honored at Dylan Fest 2017 after Boz Scaggs, Wynnona & The Big Noise, Richard Hawley and other artists paid tribute to the American great.
