Flying Lotus Apologizes For Defending The Gaslamp Killer

The Guardian has reported that critically acclaimed and Grammy-nominated producer Flying Lotus has apologized in the wake of his previous comments at recent concert defending fellow producer and friend The Gaslamp Killer, who has been accused of drugging and raping two women in 2013. After the wake of the allegations against The Gaslamp Killer (aka William Benjamin Bensussen) Flying Lotus took to the mic during his performance at Hollywood Forever Cemetery over the weekend, stating that ““The internet is a fuckin’ liar. Ain’t nobody judge and jury but the fuckin’ law, okay?… Thank you guys so much for coming, let truth and justice have its day.” He then proceeded to close out the set with a cover of a Gaslamp Killer song.

Flying Lotus has issued a statement apologizing for his actions at the show, stating:

“I wanted to sincerely apologize for my comments at my show. I realize they were insensitive. This is a tough time for all of us, men and women. I’m having trouble finding my voice in all of this. I am truly heartbroken. My stage has always been a place for what’s in my heart until now. I feel as internet-wielding people we have to learn to give each other space to feel, to honor each other’s reactions and experiences without bullying. I care about this community and its impact so much.”

Flying Lotus aka Steven Edison has been keeping busy throughout the year, scoring the soundtrack to the new Blade Runner 2022 animated short, collaborating with Thundercat and Brendon Small, in addition to releasing few new tracks of his own along the way.

Edison just recently kicked off his new tour, dubbed “3D” which will feature a host of visually stunning stage designs to complement and enhance his deep electronic music.
