Prurient Announces New Three-Hour, 4xCD / 7xLP Album Rainbow Mirror for December 2017 Release

Prurient have been gearing up for the release of their latest work, Rainbow Mirror, and now we have a flood of details about the upcoming release.

The new release will exceed three hours in length and will consist of “raw material that delves into the glacial, meditative, and ambient side of Domick Fernow’s cult within the realm of noise music, creating an epic of pure ‘Doom Electronics.’” The new LP coincides with the band’s twenty year anniversary, and to celebrate their rich and winding history, the new project is being released as a 4xCD and digitally on December 1 through Profound Lore, and there will be a 7xLP vinyl edition out the exact same day through Hospital Productions. For Rainbow Mirror, Fernow enlisted Matt Folden and Jim Mroz to form out the group for the record.

To keep the celebration going, Hospital Productions is releasing a limited cassette entitled Buddha Strangled in Vines (1997), which will consist of three previously unheard Prurient tracks. The original date of these tracks date all the way back to the days of the band’s first tape recordings, and will be available at Hospital Productions anniversary show (featuring Jesu and Nothing) on November 8.

Prurient and Profound Lore first collaborated back during the creation of the Frozen Niagra Falls album, and while familiar moments of the previous album can be found within Rainbow Mirror’s “massive scope,” the new music promises to be a “monolithic, crawling psychological noisescape of time-stretching electronics, layered counterpoint feedback, machine loops and maximalist pulsating synth passages.”

Prurient also released one of the upcoming tracks, “Naturecum,” which you can check out below. And while you might chuckle at the title (don’t lie), the music is pretty foreboding.
