In a bizarre new music video from Portland sludge metallers Red Fang, we get to see animated versions of the band members, a Yeti, a UFO with aliens studying 20th century contemporary music, and a woman that can shapeshift into a dragon. If that hasn’t grabbed your attention I truly have no idea what will.
The Balazas Grof directed clip plays over Red Fang’s “Not For You,” from the band’s latest record Only Ghosts. In the video, the Yeti shows up (in a “I Want to Believe” t-shirt) to jam at a club where the members of the band take turns spinning records at the turntable. Though they try to throw some classics like Genesis, Husker Dü and Helms Alee, the Yeti is having none of it (though by the end it seems as though the Yeti maybe reconsidering his initial verdict on Can).
Like OK GO or PUP, Red Fang has had a great track record of creating memorable music videos, and the clip for “Not for You” definitely rises up the ranks.
Red Fang will be busy entertaining yetis and humans alike throughout the rest of the year as well as early next year. They have a tour running, with headline dates from Oct. 17 through Oct. 28 across the Western United States. From then on, they’ll be joining Mastodon and Russian Circles to tour across Europe from Nov. 13 to Dec. 10. And finally, they’ll be kicking off in the new year with some dates with Black Label Society and Corrosion of Conformity beginning Jan. 26 to Feb. 9.
