Indie rockers Wolf Parade have released a new music video for the song “Cry III (King of Piss and Paper / Artificial Life),” the closing track on their just-released Cry Cry Cry as reported by Spin. The music video, described by the band as a “double video/short sci fi film” was directed by Brook Linder, who has headed videos from Nine Inch Nails and Beck in recent years.

The video unfolds like a short movie, combining plenty of exciting camera work and visual effects to tell the story of a radiation leak in a small town. The plot loosely follows this thread, but it contains so many dizzying cuts and randomness that the real meaning is buried somewhere far underneath its exterior. Sonically “Cry III (King of Piss and Paper / Artificial Life)” is a towering indie rock epic that combines some David Byrne-esque vocal stylings with jagged pieces of guitar, shimmering keyboards, and up-tempo drums.

This has been a busy year for the band as they revved up the promotional engine for the release of Cry Cry Cry after releasing the first single “Valley Boy” back in July. Also, the band was chosen to open for Arcade Fire on their current North American tour while Wolf Parade has also released details for a headlining run of tour dates that will extend into 2018.
