A surprise of “new” music unfolded during a podcast with Talking Metal. Wendy Dio joined the show to talk about Ronnie James Dio’s legacy. We also heard that there was new music that hasn’t been heard yet by the late Ronnie Dio. She even mentioned some future plans like finishing up the autobiography Ronnie started. Now there’s talk of that material becoming a possible documentary. With such a heart-breaking loss, Dio says she can finally look at his work without completely breaking down. She gave us an idea of how much music was actually unreleased by Dio. She said,
“I think there’s at least three, maybe five songs. Not completed, but songs that have the lyrics and Ronnie singing them. Some [songs] are half done, some are just ideas and things — I’ll have to really look. I haven’t really had the time or wanted to go into that part of his life again, but I do have all the computers and it’s time — it’s been seven-and-a-half years now, so I can actually go in there and look without breaking down.”
She also mentioned that there seems to be a never-ending well of material and memories that keep Ronnie alive. She was, of course, talking about the international hologram tour of Ronnie Dio. The entire band was hoping to fill anywhere from 80 to 100 concerts with the hologram. When asked about the entire experience, Wendy Dio said:
“Ronnie was always wanting to experiment with new stage ideas and was a big Disney fan,” continued Wendy. “With this said, I am sure he is giving us his blessing with this hologram project. It gives the fans that saw Ronnie perform an opportunity to see him again and new fans that never got to see him a chance to see him for the first time. We hope everyone will enjoy the show that we have all worked so hard to put together.”
