Tom Morello Compares Himself To Ted Nugent In Recent Interview

Loudwire has reported that in a recent interview with the Guardian, Tom Morello claimed that he held similar political views as his friend Ted Nugent, something that may seem shocking to many as Nugent is an avid Trump supporter and right-wing in his political views while Morello is on the exact opposite spectrum. However, Morello finds common ground with Nugent on the concept of free speech and also believes that many of the libertarian views Nugent holds overlap with his viewpoints: “Ted Nugent’s a good friend to me. We have very similar views on freedom of speech…His libertarian edge and my anarchist edge overlap considerably.”

Of course, Morello has been extremely critical and outspoken about Donald Trump’s presidency, having stated his disgust multiple times and even going as far to say that we would choke Trump out if presented the opportunity.

Morello has endured a turbulent year as his close friend Chris Cornell tragically passed away in May though Morello is hopeful that at some point the remaining unreleased tracks from Audioslave will see the light of day.

Morello has kept busy in his new band, the Prophets of Rage, which features Brad Wilk and Tim Commerford from Rage Against the Machine along with B-Real of Cypress Hill, and Chuck D and DJ Lord of Public Enemy. The supergroup just released their debut album and have been playing all over the world, with some secret gigs thrown in for good measure along with some striking music videos. Much like their other bands, the Prophets of Rage fall into the category of politically minded protest music, meant to act as a revocation of the Trump White House and its policies.
