The National Cover “Heaven” by Talking Heads

New York indie band veterans the National have been making a habit of delivering interesting covers on their latest run of tour dates, in support of their recently dropped 7th LP Sleep Well Beast.

Following a cover of the New Order track “Love Vigilantes” performed earlier this week in Manchester, the National has given the live treatment to the Talking Heads’ cut “Heaven,” from their 1979 classic LP Fear of Music. The cover was performed at the Hammersmith Eventim Apollo in London last night as a part of their 4 night residency..

“Heaven” kicked off the encore for the show, but the rest of the setlist definitely did not fall short. The band opened with the Sleep Well Beast opening track “Nobody Else Will Be There.” The band went on to play all but one of the songs on the fantastic 12 song record.

The show also saw performances of classics from the National like “Graceless” off of 2013’s Trouble Will Find Me and “About Today” from their 2004 record Cherry Tree.

The “Heaven” cover was also followed by “Born To Beg” off of Sleep Well Beast with guests This Is The Kit and Lisa Hannigan joining in on the stage. The High Violet cut “Terrible Love” closed out the phenomenal sounding concert.
