Swedish heavy metal band Cult of Luna just released a rediscovered cover of Joy Division’s “24 hours,” a cover COL recorded almost ten years ago. The group’s vocalist and guitarist Johannes Persson confessed he hardly remembered doing the cover since so much time had passed, but acknowledged how much they admired Joy Division since the beginning of their music career.
“While touring Eternal Kingdom we were invited by the Swedish radio to record a live session in front of a live audience in the famous studio Svenska grammofonstudion in Gothenburg,” said Persson. “Joy Division is a band that have meant a whole lot to many of us and we actually covered “She’s lost control” in the first year of Cult of Luna’s existence.”
“I don’t remember how we came to choose ”Twenty-four hours”,” he continued. “In fact I had totally forgot that we ever did this cover until someone made me aware of it a few weeks ago.”
Luckily for us, the cover has come to the forefront of their memory and in turn, to the forefront of our playlists. Check out the entire song yourself below.
Cult of Luna finished their summer tour last month with american musician Julie Christmas, who they also created an album with in 2016 called Mariner.
