The Icelandic punk rockers Sigur Rós has just announced it’s first round of performing artists for the four day NORÐUR OG NIÐUR this coming December. During each winter in Iceland the days grow shorter and shorter, which makes Dec. 27-30 the perfect dates to rock out to punk music, considering the festival will be among the darkness. The acts included in the first festival lineup announcement includes Jarvis Cocker, Kevin Shields, Stars of The Lid,
Dan Deacon, Julianna Barwick, Sin Fang, Sóley and Örvar Smárason, JFDR, and
Hugar.
“We are beyond excited about NORÐUR OG NIÐUR. Organising your own festival is brilliant, you draw-up a fantasy league of all your favourite players, reach out to people, cross your fingers, and with a little bit of luck and good timing, get a wholly phenomenal squad of unbeatable talent all in one place at one time ready to make magic happen.”
Aside from seriously awesome festival sets, fans going to NORÐUR OG NIÐUR can expect a spectacular firework show, a pumped up crowd, and breath-taking views of Iceland. General sale for tickets will be available for purchase on Sept. 28 and four day passes for the festival are extremely limited. First come first serve. UPDATE 9/25: Johann Johannsson, The Icelandic Dance Company, Blanck Mass, Alexis Taylor, Dr Nelly Ben Hayoun, Mammut, Kristin Anna, Kjartan Holm and Caleb Smith added to the Nordur OG Nidur 2017 lineup.
